As a fulltime teacher of adult migrants, her time spent on craft was limited. However, she gained a variety of skills from her sister, Carolyn Cabena, and from workshops in Australia and England.
Designing scarves has been her main interest alongside silk pictures and working with batik on cotton. Creating and experimenting with mixing colours, she uses wax, antifusant, diffusant and gutta to complete her work. |

Virginia prefers to use silk dyes and having now retired, hopes to be able to spend more time working with silk paintings and batik.
Her other interests are writing short stories and poems (some have been published) and writing articles and editing for the magazine, Yoga for Health Australia. |
