Jennie was a pupil at PLC Croydon studying art under Adelaide Perry. Continuing her interest in art she attended the North Sydney Technical College while working as a commercial artist before leaving for overseas for two years.
Jennie gained a love of pottery while later working in Papua New Guinea, where she and her husband established an artefact gallery in Port Moresby.
In 1980 Jennie began working with clay in Queensland and graduated with a Certificate in Studio Ceramics in 1982.

Each of her pieces are individually hand made in porcelain clay. The patterns are made within the clay to create a unique work of art. Once dried, it is bisque fired before glaze is applied with a brush. It is then fired again to 1300C after which 24ct gold is applied and the piece is fired for a third time.
Jennie travels to the opal fields and obtains rough opals directly from the miners. She then selects, shapes and finishes each individual opal to complement the design.
Jennie joined NSCG in 2006. |
