Valerie joined the NSCG in 2003. She emigrated to Australian from the UK in the 1960s, where she had practised and taught hairdressing and theatrical and film wig dressing.
Valerie started experimenting with patchwork and appliqué in 1968 and made totally functional patchwork kites for artist Peter Travis.
She has won several prizes for her patchwork creations, Royal Easter Show, Family Circle and New Idea/Coats Patons Craft Awards to name a few. |

Valerie has been a member of the Gordon Craft Co-Operative for 17 years and has attended various classes at Ku-Ring-Gai Art Centre including calligraphy, machine embroidery and mosaic tiling.
Currently, she attends an Art to Wear class which includes all forms of fibre embellishment. This class inspired her to experiment with a variety of methods to created interesting beaded neck pieces. |
