Potter

Leigh joined the NSCG in 2006.  She began pottery classes in 1973 at Mosman Evening College and from there went on to Willoughby Workshop where she remained for nearly five years learning from various tutors, including Renata de Lambert, Hildegarde Anstice and John Turvey.

Leigh moved to Brookvale TAFE where she completed the 3-year Studio Ceramics Course, and followed that up with 2 years studying Surface Decoration and Design

She became a member of the Ceramic Study Group and has done many weekend and week-long workshops with the Group, being exposed the wonderful potters who have come from all over the world to share their expertise.

Leigh has also studied Chinese Brush Painting and Turkish Painting and is currently learning Glass Fusing and Slumping.

For 20 years she was a member of ‘The Handcraft Shop’ co-operative at Gordon and for 10 years, as member of ‘Clay Things Potters Gallery’.  Her works have been sold in several galleries in NSW.

Leigh has won a number of prizes at the Royal East Show including First and Highly Commended.

Leigh’s inspiration for her work comes from Italian Majolica Pottery and other peasant type decorated pots.  She loves bright colours and loves to make pots that people will use and enjoy.  Leigh hopes she can keep potting for many years to come!
